Police rescue kidnap victims at criminals’ hideouts in Taraba

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team, in a joint operation with the Taraba Police Command, have rescued some kidnap victims at criminal hideouts in the state.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, stated in Abuja on Sunday that kidnap victims at the various hideouts in the Command were rescued unhurt.

He added that cache of weapons and other incriminating items were recovered from the hideouts.

The police spokesman stated also that the rescued kidnap victims had been reunited with their families.

He also stated that 11 notorious kidnap suspects were arrested for their complicity in the crime trend in Taraba.

He added that abductors held a serving personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, and a relative of the Emir of Jalingo hostage.

He also mentioned the killing of a Police Sergeant in Jalingo, and stated that seven AK 47 riffles, two Beretta pistols, 121 rounds of live ammunition, four magazines, masks, illicit drugs and other incriminating items were recovered during raids.

He stated that investigations revealed that the suspects, identified as members of a notorious kidnap syndicate, had been on the police wanted list in Taraba State.
