The Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Friday, dragged three unemployed men before a Grade I Area Court Karu, for allegedly fighting and inflicting injuries on themselves in public.

The defendants are Samson Hassan, Muawiya Hassan and Arimiyau Adamu. They were also charged with disturbance of public peace.

The prosecutor, Edwin Ochayi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 2, in A.Y.A area of Asokoro, Abuja.

Ochayi said the defendants engaged themselves in a brawl and sustained serious injuries on themselves.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 113 of the Penal Code.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Judge, Malam Umar Mayana, granted the defendants bail with two sureties each.

Mayana ordered that the sureties must live within the court jurisdiction and address verified by a court officer.

He also ordered that the defendants must sign an undertaking and maintain public peace among themselves.

The judge adjourned the case till May 22 for hearing.
