The Police in Osun State have arraigned four siblings and their 30-year-old-friend, Gbenga Gbemileke, for allegedly disturbing public peace.

The siblings – Moses, aged 34; Jide, 27; Yemi, 30; and Bukola Makinde, 21 – were docked at an Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court on one-count of breach of public peace.

Police prosecutor, Inspector James Obaletan, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on February 26, around 9am, at Ogun Olowu Village via Ifetedo, Ife South Local Government Area of the state.

Obaletan said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner that disturbed public peace.

He added that the offence contravened Section 83 of the Criminal Code Laws of Osun State, 2022.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

Their counsels, Victor Egede and Sarafa Okewoye, applied for bail in most liberal terms for them, assuring the court that their clients would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like amount.

Badmus said that the sureties, whose addresses must be verifiable, must swear to affidavits of means, and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The magistrate added that the sureties must submit valid identification cards.

He urged the defendants to be of good conduct as the case is being determined and thereafter.

He adjourned the case till March 29 for hearing.
