Police detain man for allegedly killing brother’s wife

The Police Command in Jigawa has detained a 25-year-old man for allegedly killing his younger brother’s wife in Jahun Local Government of the state.

The command Spokesman, Superintendent of Police, Lawan Shiisu, confirmed this in a statement in Dutse on Thursday.

Shiisu said the suspect also inflicted serious injuries on his neighbour’s daughter during the incident, which occurred on Wednesday in Gunka Village.

The suspect, whose name is withheld, who is suspected to be mentally unstable, was alleged to have attacked his younger brother’s wife and his neighbour’s daughter with a pestle.

“The tragic incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m, prompting an immediate response from a patrol team to the scene.

“The victims were rushed to the General Hospital, Jahun for medical attention.

“One of the victims, identified as Ummi Sale, aged 20, died while on admission, while the other, identified as Hauwa Alkasim, aged six, is still responding to treatment,” Shiisu said

According to him, the remains of the deceased have been released to her relatives for burial.

Shiisu said the suspect was currently in police custody while investigations continued.

He, however, assured that a thorough medical evaluation would be performed to determine the suspect’s mental state.

The Police spokesperson assured that the command remained committed to the safety and security of all residents in the state. (NAN)
