The Police have arrested two men for allegedly defiling two young girls in Ebonyi State.

One of the suspects, Sunday Okah, was said to have dragged a nine-year-old-girl into his room where he forcefully had canal knowledge of her.

According to Agnes Ofoke, mother of the victim, who is from Okofia in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, the incident occurred on March 27 when she sent her daughter to bring her phone from where she paid to charge it.

Ofoke said that Okah, a 49-year-old-man, dragged her daughter into his room and fondled her private part, after which he raped her.

She stated that she got to know about the incidence on Tuesday (two days after), and took her daughter to the suspect’s house. Sadly, however, the man denied the allegation.

“I told my little daughter to go and bring my phone, and on her way, a neighbour called her. She told him she was on errand but the man insisted and dragged her into his house and inserted his finger into her private part,” the mother alleged.

She said that Okah took her up for reporting the incident to their pastor and a group against gender based violence.

In a related development, 55-year-old Azubuike Isu, living in Amaelu, Amaechi in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state, allegedly lured and sexually assaulted a nine-year-old-girl.

The victim’s father, Christopher Egwu, said that the suspect assaulted her daughter after luring her into his house.

“He (Isu) is notorious in this evil act. He lured my daughter into his house and asked her to be massaging his private part and later inserted it in her mouth,” Egwu explained.

He further explained that he reported the matter to the villagers who advised him to take his daughter to the hospital in order to ascertain what happened.

Egwu appealed to the government to ensure that the perpetrators were prosecuted in order to serve as deterrent to others.

The Coordinator of the Gender Based Violence Task Force in Ebonyi State, Faithvin Nwanchor, disclosed that the parents of the two young girls reported the cases on March 24.

They were told to bring the victims to Force Clinic for examination. Following this, Nwanchor said that her office effected the arrest of the culprits with the help of a team of police officers.

She urged parents to wake up to their responsibilities by knowing and questioning the movements and activities of their children regularly in a bid to avoid such incidents.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Loveth Odah, said that she was making enquiry on the matter.
