Police arrest two friends for raping pawpaw hawker in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested two men, Ezekiel Yusuf, 29 and Musa Abubakar, 25, for allegedly raping a 23-year-old hawker (names withheld).
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the victim was hawking sliced pawpaw along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, when the two suspects lured into an apartment belonging to one of them, and raped her.
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, said, “The victim was hawking sliced Pawpaw along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, when the duo lured her into Yusuf Ezekiel apartment under the pretence that they wanted to buy pawpaw from her and forcibly had canal knowledge of her.
“It was while she was shouting that the people around came to her rescue and subsequently reported to the police.
“The DPO of Ojodu Abiodun, SP Bamidele Job, quickly dispatched detectives to the scene and the two suspects were promptly arrested.”
The police spokesman added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
