Police arrest two brothers for robbing neighbour

The police in Ogun have arrested two brothers, 19-year-old Iyiola Kazeem and Iyiola Rilwan, 21, for alleged armed robbery.
The siblings were arrested at Oluwole Fagbote Street, Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state after attacking their victim, one Imafidon Oluwafemi, at about 5.00am.
The victim of their attack was said to be sleeping in his house, situated on the same street, when the suspects, wearing face masks, broke into his apartment and attempted to rob him of his valuables.
The two brothers allegedly dealt several machete blows on their victim, who fought with them and succeeded in unmasking one of them whom he recognised him as his neighbour’s son.
A distress call was said to have been sent to the police and the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Muiyeedeen Oba, led a team of anti-robbery men to the scene, where the two suspects were arrested.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that dangerous weapons, including a cutlass and masks were recovered from the two brothers.
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, added that the victim had been placed under intensive care at a private hospital in Ota.
The PPRO also said that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-robbery Section in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
He further said that the state commissioner of police had assured the residents of the state of adequate security before, during and after the yuletide season.
The police spokesman stressed that the command would not leave any stone unturned in ridding the state of crime and criminality.
