Police arrest teenager who set ex-lover’s girlfriend ablaze

POLICE operatives attached to the Satellite Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 19-year-old girl, Jemila Ibrahim, for allegedly setting her ex-lover’s girlfriend, Rabi, on fire.

Jemila and her friend, Fatima Mohammed, 21, had allegedly set the residence of Ibrahim’s ex-lover, Mohammed Yusuf, ablaze at about 5.30pm on November 18, while Rabi was inside.

Fatima, who was arrested along with Jemila, had accompanied her to the house, located at Monkey Village, to commit the heinous crime.

Rabi who had earlier been rescued from the fire by Yusuf, eventually died in the hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Monday night, that Yusuf had broken up with Jemila over alleged infidelity.

“The duo of Jemila Ibrahim, and her friend, Fatimo Mohammed, of Monkey Village, who accompanied Jemila to commit the heinous crime, have been arrested by the police operatives attached to Satellite Division of the command,” the statement said.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, who condemned the crime, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State CID, Panti, for discreet investigation,” it added.
