The police in Ogun have arrested a suspected armed robber, Dimeji Tijani, in Ijoko, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect was arrested in Ijoko by police operatives attached to the Ota Division of the Command at about 12 minutes past midnight, last Saturday.
The suspect was said to have been found with a locally made pistol and live cartridges.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, explained that a patrol team on night duty along Ijoko Road had attempted to arrest a group of persons, who had gathered at a notorious junction in the area smoking Indian hemp.
Adejobi, a superintendent of police, added that on sighting the police patrol team, the suspects fled but were pursued by the policemen, who arrested Tijani.
While fleeing, the police spokesman further said, the suspects abandoned a black bag containing the arms and ammunition recovered.
“The command has discovered that motorized patrol will be the best method to be adopted at night time, if at all, the bad boys would be checkmated.
“AIG Abdulmajid Ali, in charge of Zone 2, Lagos, has reiterated his commitment to flushing criminals out of Ogun and Lagos, especially now that he’s in charge of the zone 2 Command and will intensify efforts to introduce modern and digital policing strategies in the zonal command,” the PPRO added.
