Men of the Osun State Police Command have arrested the Chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, over the death of Timothy Adegoke, an MBA student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
According to a statement signed by Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, made available to The Point on Wednesday, the police arrested the popular hotelier after the arrest of six of his members of staff.
The statement read, “Subsequent upon the earlier press release issued in respect of the circumstances surrounding the death of Timothy Adegoke, a Masters degree student of OAU who came from Abuja to sit for his examination at the OAU distance learning centre, Moro, Osun State, the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, wishes to update the general public that in addition to the six suspects earlier arrested, the chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife, Dr Ramon, Adedoyin, was also arrested on 15th November, 2021.
“He is currently in police detention, undergoing interrogation in connection with the case. While thanking members of the public, especially the bereaved family, students and management of OAU for their patience to allow the police continue on a thorough investigation on the matter, the CP reiterates the commitment of the police command to ensure justice is done no matter the personality of the person(s) involved in the case or how highly or lowly placed in the society, if found culpable.
“Further update on the case will be made public as event unfolds. Adegoke was declared missing when friends and family members could neither reach his phone line nor find him at the examinaton venue.
“A case of missing person was reported on November7, at about 4:30pm, at Edun Abon Police Station and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation on 9th November. Immediately the case was received, the SCID of the Command swung into action and arrested six suspects in connection with the case while investigation is ongoing.”
