Police arrest man, wife over attempt to kill daughter for ritual in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested one Nasiru Adeyemo and his wife, Idayat Adeyemo, over an alleged attempt to use a 7-year-old girl, Abibat Anike Adeyemo, for ritual purposes. 
The couple was arrested following a distress call from members of the public that a strange-looking “load” In a sack was dumped by the road side at Asabala area along Papalanto/Sagamu road since Friday.
On the strength of the information, the DPO Owode Egba, CSP Shehu Alao, led his men to the scene, where the “load,” which was inside a white rice sack, was untied. 
Surprisingly, the 7-year-old girl was found bound inside the sack with one of the fingers on her right hand cut off.
But the girl, who still alive, was quickly taken to the hospital for medical attention. 
When she regained consciousness, she informed the police that her father and step-mother bound her and kept her in sack, which they dumped inside the bush in the area.
Police operatives, who launched a manhunt for the victim’s father and his wife succeeded in arresting them on Sunday evening. 
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the suspects were being interrogated. Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the transfer of the case to the Anti-Kidnapping/Cultism section for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.
