Police arrest man over alleged attempt to kidnap neighbour

A 35 year-old-man, Magaji Adamu, has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly attempting to kidnap his neighbour.

The neighbour, who spoke to The Point under the condition of anonymity, disclosed that he reported the matter to the police after the attempt to abduct him failed.

Adamu, a resident of Gidan Doka Village in Sumaila Local Government Area of the state, was accused of calling his neighbour and asking him to pay the sum of N2million or risk being abducted.

The neighbour said, “On the 8th of August, I received a call from an unknown number that I should pay the sum of N2million to them or they would kidnap me. So, I quickly alerted the police.”

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Command, Abdulahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incidence, saying that the mobile phone used to commit the crime had been recovered.

Kiyawa said, “On receipt of the information, the Kano CP, Sumaila Dikko, despatched a team of policemen, led by SP Ibrahim Hamma, to investigate and arrest the suspect.

“The team arrested one Magaji Adamu, 35 years old. The mobile phone used to commit the crime was recovered from the suspect. Investigation into the case is still in progress and the suspect will soon be charged to court.”
