Police arrest four cattle rustlers in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested four cattle rustlers at the Ofada area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday at about 1:00am.
The four rustlers, who had earlier in the week robbed two men, Muhammed Ruga and Babuga, of their two big cows, were arrested while planning to carry out a similar operation at the Orile Igbehin area of Ofada.
During their earlier operation, the suspects, Madu Abuchi,  Onyeka Okafor, Francis Onyeka and Hafiz Mustapha, attacked the two herdsmen with cutlasses, bound their hands and legs together after beating them thoroughly, before making away with their two big cow.
Luck, however, ran out on them, when they were coming for another operation and information got to the police at the Owode Egba Division, and the Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Sheu Alao, led his men to effect the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects, who have already confessed to committing the crime, have also been identified by their victims. They also confessed to being the brains behind the hijacking of many cement laden trucks in the state, adding that one Femi, who owned houses in Sagamu and itori had been the receiver.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that efforts were still being made to apprehend the said receiver of the stolen goods.
Items recovered from the suspects include three cutlasses, a rope, iron rod, charms, jackknife, different types of hand sets, an unregistered bajaj motorcycle and green belts belonging to a security operative.
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the suspects be transferred to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discrete investigation.
