Police arrest five suspects over popular hotelier’s murder in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested five suspects over the death of a popular hotelier, Chief Moses Akanni Famuyiwa. 
Famuyiwa, who until his death was the Director of Mafland Hotel, was attacked by some suspected hoodlums at the residence of one of his wives at Arigbajo in Ifo Local Government Area of the state on June 14, 2017.
The hoodlums numbering about eight, broke into the house at about 5:00 am and held all the occupants hostage. 
They over-powered the 73-year-old man and stabbed  him on his left hand before dispossessing him of his bag containing the cash sum of N500,000 and two GSM handsets. Famuyiwa was rushed to the hospital by people around, but he gave up the ghost on the way as a result of excess bleeding.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that on getting the report of the case, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, ordered the DPO Ewekoro, Superintendent Vincent Egwuonu, to get the hoodlums arrested within the shortest possible time. 
Oyeyemi, an assistant superintendent of police, added that in compliance with the order, the DPO and his men swung into action and their intelligence base efforts led to the arrest of the following suspects, Dare Abiodun,19; Femi Ayinla,17; Abduliamin Akinlotan, 18; Jamiu Akeweje,19 and Gbenga Ojo, 20
The police spokesman said that all the suspects had already made confessional statements regarding their involvement in the murder of the deceased hotelier.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discrete investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.
