Men of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an Inspector allegedly involved in the shooting incident at the Ajah area of the state that resulted in the death of a man identified as Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah.
Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on his Twitter handle on Wednesday saying that the incident happened on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at about 11.30 pm.
Hundeyin also disclosed that the officer that was behind the shooting was immediately arrested, disarmed and currently in the custody of the state command.
He tweeted “At About 11:30p.m on Tuesday, December 06, 2022, a shooting incident involving men of Ajah Division resulted in the unfortunate death of Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah.
“The officer behind the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and has been detained, as a full-scale investigation has commenced.
“The Command through the Area Commander, Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah, has since notified and established contact with the family,” he said.
Hundeyin said the command had commiserated with the family of the deceased and pledged to ensure justice.
“The Command, while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, gives assurances that the already commenced investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be brought to a speedy and conclusive end, while equally ensuring that justice is served,” he stated.
