Police arrest 40 armed robbery suspects in Imo

The police in Imo State have arrested no fewer than 40 armed robbery suspects.
The state Commissioner of Police Mr. Tiwo Lakanu, disclosed this at a news briefing in the state Police Command Headquarters in Owerri.
Lakanu said the armed robbery suspects were arrested while perpetrating crime in the state.
According to him, the suspects armed themselves with locally made shot guns, axes, machetes and other sophisticated dangerous weapons, robbing some customers of their goods in Owerri Plaza along Douglas Road.
The police boss said luck ran against the suspected robbers when the police got a tip on their operations.
Lakanu stated some of the suspects arrested included Anthony Ezeudo aka Moplo D. Dragon, Ifeanyi Ukwuoma and Joseph Nwaigwe.
He added that items recovered from them were two pistols, four live cartridges and assorted charms.
The command said the suspects had already made useful statements in connection with the crime committed and would be charged to court.
In another development, the command arrested one Anayo Chibueze, who robbed one Precious Ugbeke of the cash of over N100,000.00 he had gone to withdraw from her bank account in Orlu.
The suspect was arrested and found with one single barrel shot gun.
The police arrested another 3-man armed gang, who invaded kings Lodge, Umuofocha Nekede and shot one of the victims dead before robbing the other occupants of their phones, laptops and gold wrist watches.
The suspects arrested were identified as Okoye Nduka, Oti Uchenna and Godwin Opone.
