The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abutu Yaro, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Gusau, on Sunday, added that the Command also recovered 200 rustled cows.

The recoveries, he said, were a result of the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and insecurity.

The Commissioner added that the Command also secured the release of about eight persons who were kidnapped three weeks ago, while some weapons were recovered.

“We recovered no fewer than 200 stolen cows, five AK 47 rifles, three vehicles and a large number of ammunitions,” Yaro revealed.

He said the peace process being led by the state government had yielded positive results, noting, “As a result of the ongoing peace engagement in Shinkafi Local Government Area, we have recovered one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 18 rounds of live ammunition.”

The Commissioner reiterated the authorities’ commitment to constantly engaging stakeholders with a view to ensuring law and order and cleansing the state of all forms of banditry.

“We shall continue with the peace process; we shall continue to engage meaningfully with all the stakeholders in order to rid the state of all forms armed banditry,” he stressed.
