No fewer than 10 persons have been arrested and quizzed by the police over the robbery incident at Skye Bank Plc in Ogbagi, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, three weeks ago.
The robbers were said to have killed four persons, including two security guards, during the invasion of the bank, which lasted almost an hour.
Three of the victims were gunned down by the robbers inside the banking hall. The fourth victim was reportedly killed while returning from his farm by the fleeing suspected robbers.
The fugitive robbers were said to have made away with millions of naira after blowing up the bank’s vault with dynamites. Residents of the town were said to have panicked as the daring robbers released bullets into the air to scare away people, some of who reportedly took cover in nearby houses.
Two days after the robbery incident that apparently paralysed commercial activities in the town, police detectives from Akure, the Ondo State capital, stormed the town in what was described as mop-up operations.
They also interrogated the branch manager of the bank and a handful of other staff.
