Police arraign woman for attempted murder

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 24-year-old woman, Kehinde Ajimosu, before a Magistrate Court sitting in Apapa for allegedly attempting to murder one Aare Aminu (male) with a kitchen knife.

 Detectives attached to Tolu Police Station said Ajimosu committed the crime at Number 2, Akindele Street, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, said the accused person attacked his victim with a knife. 

The charge sheet stated that Ajimosu “did unlawfully conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the public peace by running with a kitchen knife in your neighbourhood, which caused panic to your neighbours and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168 (1) (d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2018.”

The second count read that the accused person “stabbed one Aare Aminu on the stomach, hand and buttocks with a knife, which endangered his life, with intent to kill him and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 230 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,
2015.”

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr. M. Olubi, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100, 000.00 with two sureties in like sum. 

The magistrate said one of the sureties should be either a civil servant or somebody with a verifiable address working with a reputable company with evidence of two years tax clearance.
