Police arraign man, 45, for attacking police officer

Policemen attached to Kirikiri Police Station in the Lagos State Police Command have arraigned a 45-year-old man, Mutiu Adewale, for allegedly attacking a police Inspector, Wale Omoseyin.
According to the police, the incident took place at Vanguard Junction, Kirikiri Town, in the Apapa Magisterial District.
The Investigative Police Officer in charge of the case, Sergeant Paul Ayepeku, brought the accused person to the court.
In the one count charge, the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, said the accused person, “unlawfully assaulted Inspector Wale Omoseyin attached to Kirikiri Police Station by pushing him to the ground from the back while performing his lawful duty and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge,
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. N.A. Layeni, granted bail to the accused person in the sum of N50,000.00 with two tax paying sureties.
Layeni adjourned the case till March 6, 2019 for trial.
