Plateau governor swears in five new commissioners

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday, swore in five newly appointed commissioners and inaugurated the governing councils of tertiary institutions in the state.

The ceremony, held at Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, marked a key step in the governor’s efforts to rebuild and reposition the state.

The new commissioners sworn in are Sunday Akpan (Bassa LGA), Joyce Ramnap (Langtang South), Sylvanus Dongtoe (Shendam), Dr Nicholas Baamlong (Qua’an Pan), and Cornelius Doeyok (Qua’an Pan).

Mutfwang emphasised the importance of good governance, efficiency, and accountability, urging the new commissioners to serve with diligence and transparency.

He tasked them with driving his administration’s vision with passion and commitment to service delivery.

“As public servants, you are the face of this government, and the citizens
of Plateau State look up to you to not only uphold the principles of accountability but also to embody the spirit of innovation and responsiveness,” Mutfwang said.

He added, “The task before us is enormous, but with collective dedication, we can overcome challenges and bring about the transformation our people desire.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace and security, infrastructural development, effective healthcare services, education, and good governance.

He encouraged the commissioners to study the state’s developmental blueprint and align their efforts with the government’s goals and priorities.

“Beyond executing existing policies, I encourage you to introduce innovative ideas that will accelerate the progress of our dear state. I have no doubt in your capacity to deliver. Your expertise, integrity, and dedication to the public good will be instrumental in ensuring that we leave behind a legacy of service and excellence,” he stated.

Mutfwang also congratulated the chairmen and members of the governing councils of the state’s tertiary institutions, urging them to drive reforms in the education sector.

He emphasised the need to equip Plateau youths with the skills and knowledge to compete globally.
