THE Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State has suspended a former Governor of the state, Muazu Babangida Aliyu, for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, which led to crisis in the party.
While accusing the former governor of working against the party’s unity, the PDP alleged that he supported the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2015 Presidential election.
Aliyu was suspended during an emergency Stakeholders’ meeting of Chachanga Local Area, in Minna, the state capital, on Monday.
Eight ward Chairmen, out of the 11 ward chairmen of the party attended the meeting, including elders and party stakeholders from Chanchaga LGA.
The former Governor’s media aide, Bala Bitrus, however, described the suspension as laughable.
He said there was no PDP Exco on ground in the state to approve the purported suspension.
The media aide said the meeting where such a decision was taken was illegal, adding that his principal would address the issue at the appropriate time.
