The member representing Isuikwuato State constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Nweke has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the Labour Party.
Labour Party is the ruling party and the only state controlled by the opposition party in the country.
In a letter to the speaker of the house conveying his resignation from the PDP, Nweke predicated his defection on the deep division and polarisation in the party from National to state levels.
He also informed the speaker that he had resigned from the PDP in a letter dated “12th of March 2025 which was received and endorsed by the chairman of PDP in my ward the same day.”
On his choice of Labour Party, the lawmaker stated that he joined the party after consulting with his constituents and as a result of the performance of the state governor.
