…Stakeholders insist on convention before October ending
…Committees to be set up

The leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party is set to sort out the leadership crisis plaguing it, beginning from tomorrow.
A top chieftain of the party, who pleaded anonymity, confidently told The Point that moves were afoot to resolve the crisis once and for all with the meetings of the party’s Governors holding tomorrow (Thursday) and that of the Board of Trustee on Friday.
The source also vouched that the generality of stakeholders across the party are rooting for a Convention before the end of October.
The Point learnt that the party’s NEC may also hold on Friday and set up committees.
“Resolution of PDP issues, yes. The issues associated with the Convention and Secondus will be thrashed out before the end of this week. Stakeholders across the party are agreed that Convention must hold before the end of October. Committees will be set up. Tomorrow there will be Governors Forum meeting at 5 pm and BOT at 10 am on Friday and may be NEC same Friday, too.”
Earlier, The Point sighted the invitation announcing the Governors meeting scheduled for Thursday to meet, deliberate and take position on issues affecting the party.
In a statement by C.I.D Maduagum, the Director General of PDP Governors Forum, on Wednesday, he indicated that “The Chairman of the PDP GOVERNORS FORUM , Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, in consultation with his colleagues have summoned an emergency meeting of the Forum to hold on Thursday 26th August, 2021 at 5pm.
“The meeting will discuss recent developments in the PDP. The Governors enjoined all PDP members and stakeholders to exercise patience as efforts are being made to ensure continued stability of the Party in the days ahead.”
In like manner, BoT Secretary, Adolphus Wabara, sent out an invitation to members of BOT and Stakeholders of the party for a meeting on Friday.
It reads, “This is to invite you to PDP Stakeholders meeting set up by the BoT on Friday 27th August, 2021, at the NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat Abuja by 10 am.
“Members are enjoined to attend the meeting promptly. Please note that social distancing and the use of face masks will be strictly applied.”
The party has been embroiled in leadership crisis which saw its National Chairman, Uche Secondus restrained by a Rivers State High Court sitting in Degema from further parading himself as such.
This led to the two national deputy chairmen laying claim to the office.
