After surviving a scary accident in May last year, dancehall singer, Onyido Nkemjika, known as Ketchup, has decided to take it as part of life and continue doing music. The singer, who was in comma for 20 hours, had a Jet Ski accident in Dubai while celebrating his birthday. But despite all that he went through, he told our correspondent that he had a good outing last year as he was able to take his music to the Caribbean.

“Last year was good for me musically. I did some international collaboration. I know I have lots to offer, but it is a gradual process. I am still growing as an artiste.” For him, his style of music is different from that of Patoranking, who obviously share similarities with him.

He stated, “Though, to the general public, we do the same music, shouting is different from singing. It could be the same sound but certainly two different styles. Patoranking is like Benny Man, I am like Kevin Lyttle.

“When it comes to who is doi n g better, everybody have their timing and organisation in the order of life. I believe in my creativity and I do not see music as competition.” He, however, still feels his song deserved to have won the Best Dancehall at the last Headies.

He said, “Of course, I felt bad that I did not win because my song was basically the only dancehall in that category. You know how Headies do their things. For me, I do not say what I do not know. If there was foul play, I prefer to leave it to God. But I believe that my time will come. I would try harder this year.”
