A middle aged ticket officer of Okada Riders Association, Ekiti State chapter has been shot dead in broad daylight by some unknown gunmen in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State.
The incident occurred very close to Okesa market in the early hours of Tuesday.
Following the suspected assassination, residents and traders scampered for safety while the area was deserted minutes after they gunned down the man whose identity could not be ascertained.
According to witnesses who craved anonymity, the gunmen came on a motorcycle, shot the ticket officer and sped off afterwards.
When contacted, Chairman Okada Riders Association, Ekiti State, Kunle Asaolu, who could not immediately disclose the name of the deceased confirmed that the man was a member of the association assigned to Okesa area to issue tickets.
The attack was also confirmed by the spokesperson of Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu who said investigation has commenced.
The corpse has been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching hospital morgue.
