In a show of compassion and commitment to social justice, the Catholic Diocese of Oyo, in collaboration with the Oyo Diocesan Prison Apostolate and the Justice, Development, and Peace Movement, Oyo, visited the Federal Medium Correctional Centre, Abolongo and supported the rehabilitation of inmates with essential items.

During the visit on Thursday, the delegation presented items including drum sets, drugs, and clothing, to the inmates, aiming to support their rehabilitation and well-being.

The Assistant Controller of the Centre, Olanipekun Olusegun, expressed profound gratitude to His Lordship, Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Oyo, for his fatherly care and continuous support.

He also extended appreciation to Rev. Fr. Gabriel Adeleke, the Coordinator of JDPM, who was represented by Rev. Fr. Mathew Oladosu, alongside other diocesan representatives.

As part of their visit, the team toured the facility to assess the living conditions of the inmates, particularly those suffering from illnesses.

The visit revealed a critical lack of access to adequate medical care, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.

Oladosu encouraged the inmates to remain steadfast in their faith, reassuring them of God’s presence in their lives. He also led prayers for their well-being and rehabilitation.
