As part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to revamp the agricultural sector in Osun State, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Tola Faseru has directed officials of the ministry to visit the abandoned agricultural demonstration center, Aisu with the hope of renovating it for use.

The Special Adviser and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry represented the Commissioner to carry out the on-the-spot assessment of the facility at Aisu to ascertain the state of the facility.

The facility which had been used for nursery of arable crops and commercial crops such as cocoa, cashew, tomatoes and peppers as well as the storage of fertilizers had been neglected and dormant in recent times.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Olaniran Akanfe Atidade and the Permanent Secretary, Moruf Olawale, joined by all the Directors in the Ministry found that the wall of the store had be dilapidated.

The roof was found to be leaking and the environment looked unkempt as at the time of visit.

The four green houses had been taken over by bush while three of them had collapsed.

Speaking at the venue, the Special Adviser and the Permanent Secretary directed the director of Agricultural Services, Gbadebo Eleyele to commence the rehabilitation and renovation of the store with immediate effect.

Atidade said the governor was doing everything possible to revamp the agricultural sector in the state and all hands must be on deck to help Adeleke to achieve it.

He noted that, “We are here this morning to conduct on-the-spot assessment on these facilities and you can see the state of the facilities.”

“It is sad that the previous administration in Osun only paid a leap service to this Ministry, that is why we are where we are today, but thanks to Governor Ademola Adeleke for taking the bull by the horn.

“The Ministry is working round the clock to make sure farmers have access to many things in the state.”
