Oba Sikiru Adeyeba, the Olojudo of Ido-Ife, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Baba Alkali, on the allegation that police operatives and some faceless elements conspired to arrest, detain, humiliate and intimidate him.

The king, while addressing journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday, said that strange faces were trailing him.

Attributing the development to the court cases that he filed in court, Oba Adeyeba said, “The faceless individuals are using the police from both Osun and Alagbon, Lagos State, to harass me but failed because I was not at home when they visited my family.

“They wanted to keep me in detention so that I won’t make it to court when my case is called.”

The monarch’s lawyer, Edmund Biriomoni, said, in the petition addressed to the IGP, ”Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Officers of the Nigeria Police and some unscrupulous, faceless antagonists have conspired amongst themselves to use the instrumentality of the Nigeria Police to unlawfully arrest, detain, humiliate, embarrass, intimidate, and continue harassing Oba Adeyeba who is a beaded Oba.”

The petition read that in September, 2021, “Oba Adeyeba was invited by the police over a petition against him authored by some Ife palace chiefs and other cohorts.

“Their allegations bother on the fact that Oba Adeyeba lacks the power to confer chieftaincy title within his domain to celebrate his 50 years which is purely a civil matter.”
