Osun court remands man, 42, for allegedly raping neighbour’s wife

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ifetedo, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, has remanded a 42-year-old man, Ajide Olasupo, for allegedly raping his neighbour’s wife.

The Prosecutor, Joseph Adebayo, told the court on Thursday that the defendant committed the offence on February 12, 2020 around 2:10pm at Akintolu village, via Ifetedo.

Adebayo said that the defendant unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the 35-year-old woman (name withheld) and assaulted her indecently.

According to him, the offence contravened sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Olasupo, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of rape and assault slammed against him.

Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba denied the defendant bail. He ordered his remand in Ile-Ife Correctional Centre.

Adeyeba adjourned the case till September 8, for hearing.
