Prominent political leaders and blocs in the All Progressives Congress in Osun State have been showing strong support to the governorship ambition of Bola Oyebamiji, the current Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial poll in the state.
As part of their commitment to ensure seamless emergence of Oyebamiji as the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, several chieftains of the party have endorsed and inaugurated campaign organisation to actualise the initiative and ensure all round victory for their chosen aspirant.
The newly inaugurated campaign organization, made up of independent promoters, grassroots mobilisers and canvassers, is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring adequate, efficient and effective spread of Oyebamiji’s gospel across the council and beyond.
The party stalwarts justified their strong position on the choice of Oyebamiji who they described as the most suitable aspirant that can lead the party to victory come 2026.
Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, had in the last few days been engaging with some of the party leaders, stakeholders and chieftains of the party to register and nurture his ambition.
Inaugurating the Campaign Organisation christened – Olorunda Chapter of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji Campaign Organisation – at a meeting in Osogbo, the convener, Rasaki Adeosun described the initiative as a child of necessity.
Adeosun who served as the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the immediate past Osun State Governor, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, declared their readiness to work diligently with relevant stakeholders within the party, council and beyond in order to take the initiative to fruition and actualize the emergence of their anointed candidate.
He acknowledged the socioeconomic and political antecedents as well as the inimitable qualities of Oyebamiji who is the current Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, saying his wealths of experience would be brought to bear to advance the cause of the state when elected as governor.
According to him, the aspirant who is a trusted financial engineer, as seen in Oyebamiji, has the potential to grow the economy of Osun and supervise equitable spread of development to every section of the state.
Adeosun expressed satisfaction in the fact that Olorunda people accepted Oyebamiji from the bottom of their heart saying, “it is an indication that his (Oyebamiji’s) antecedents in governance were satisfactory.”
In their separate remarks, former Olorunda State Constituency lawmakers, Kunle Akande; Waseeu Adebayo; Olorunda Local Government Chairman, Kunle Kudaisi; Osun Central Senatorial District APC Women Leader, Muslimat Ibrahim; Vice Chairman, Olorunda North LCDA, Shakirat Adeoye among other leaders of the party threw their weights behind Oyebamiji’s ambition just as they expressed their total commitment to ensure his emergence at the primary and his victory at the main governorship election in 2026.
The meeting agreed to open doors for numerous personalities, groups, stakeholders and interested party loyalists beckoning to be members of the campaign organisation.
THE POINT reports that in his bid to gain ground across all sectors and institutions of the state, Oyebamiji and his team have been visiting prominent stakeholders in the last few days.
His team visited His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, in his palace and had quality conversations with the firstclass monarch.
Still in Ile-Ife, the NIWA boss visited his leader and former Deputy Governor of Osun, Adeleke Adewoyin.
He also met with two former members of the House of Representatives, Gafar Amere from Iwo/Ayedire/Ola-oluwa Federal Constituency and Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni from Atakunmosa East/Atakunmosa West/Ilesa East/Ilesa West Federal Constituency, alongside their formidable team.
According to him, “Our conversation was both engaging and insightful, as we reflected on past legislative engagements just as we explored pathways for strategic collaboration towards the advancement of our state.”
“I remain committed to fostering partnerships that prioritize development, unity, and effective representation,” Oyebamiji declared.
AMBO was hosted by the Oluwo of Iwo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Ilufemiloye, Telu I. He said their conversation was both enlightening and inspiring, touching on leadership, unity, and the boundless potential of their people.
According to him, “His Majesty’s deep-rooted commitment to the people, seamlessly blended with a forward-thinking vision for youth empowerment and community development, is truly commendable.
“As we forge ahead, I remain deeply encouraged by such interactions and more determined than ever to contribute meaningfully to our collective progress.”
To further endear himself, he recently engaged former members of the House of Assembly, as well as candidates of APC who contested in the 2023 general elections.
Oyebamiji was in Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state to pay a courtesy visit to two respected leaders and elders of the party, Shuaib Oyedokun and Poju Odusola.
Strong leaders and stakeholders of Osun APC appear to have somewhat electoral value in Oyebamiji and he may be the flag bearer that would wrestle power with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peopes Democratic Party who is gunning for second term.
Oyebamiji is said to have two master’s degrees, 23 years banking experience and 12 years public experience, particularly in Public Finance.
