THE immediate past National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday, apologised to traditional rulers in Benin kingdom for the choice of Godwin Obaseki as successor.
Oshiomhole particularly apologised to the kings for working tirelessly to make Obaseki his successor in 2016.
The former governor tendered his apology in the Edo South Senatorial District of the state, ahead of the governorship election.
Oshiomhole said, “I am angry with the present Governor for failing to continue all the ongoing projects and failing to keep to all his campaign promises. Instead, he is spending the state’s resources by signing MOUs.
“I apologise for his failure but we are here to correct that error with the 2020 governorship election by bringing a man who understands the workings of the state and a man who has a clear manifesto that will bring the dividend of democracy to Edo people and that man is Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.”
Supporters of both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party had clashed in front of the Oba of Benin’s Palace on Saturday.
