THERE was panic in Iree, Osun State, on Thursday, when armed robbers, stormed two banks in the community.
The robbers, who shot sporadically into the air as they stormed the two banks, located not far from each other, were said to have arrived the location at about 3.50pm.
Residents of the area said the robbers operated for about 15 minutes without any hitch, noting that gunshot sounds were also heard while the gunmen were escaping through the Iree-Ada Road.
Their activity, it was gathered, left one person dead from stray bullet.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola.
She said security operatives had been deployed to the scene of crime.
