Ondo State Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commended the philantropic gesture of Peter Fasua, proprietor of All States College of Education, Ero-Akure, for granting a three-year tuition-free scholarship to 500 newly admitted students of the college.
The acting governor gave the commendation on Tuesday in Ero-Akure during the matriculation ceremony of the college.
Aiyedatiwa, who was represented on the occasion by his chief of staff, Segun Olujiwa, remarked that the gesture was in accordance with the education policy of the state government as encapsulated in the REDEEMED Agenda of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration.
“Let me specially commend the immense contribution of the proprietor, Prince Peter Oyeleye Fasua, to the advancement of education in Ondo State and Nigeria.
“It is of interest that you have demonstrated a strategic vision to offer the best in cutting-edge education and service delivery, in vocational and entrepreneurial skills as well as leadership and management,” Aiyedatiwa applauded.
He further commended the proprietor for “your unflinching support and cooperation with our administration in the onerous task of securing the future of our youths and building a prosperous Ondo State.”
Earlier, Fasua had announced that his gesture was borne out of his concern for the challenges facing indigent students, and also to give back to the society what he had benefitted since he returned to the country from the United States of America (USA), 12 years ago.
He commended the administration of Governor Akeredolu for boosting skill acquisition and upgrading educational facilities in the public schools of Ondo State.
“As for the students, I implore you to take advantage of government and parents’ investment in your education to secure your future and make Nigeria a great nation, thus fulfilling the dreams of our founding fathers,” he urged.
