Ondo 2024: ‘We expect 90% votes’, Ganduje says at meeting with South West governors

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdulahi Ganduje, has appealed to the leaders of the party in Ondo State to work together and ensure that the party wins the November 16 governorship election in the state.

Ganduje appealed at the South West APC Governors’ Forum Stakeholders meeting on Sunday in Akure, the state capital.

The Akure meeting had in attendance the governors of Lagos, Ekiti, and the host Ondo; while the Ogun State governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.

Addressing the gathering, the APC Chairman noted that he was encouraged by the number of party leaders in the state present at the meeting.

He urged them to put all that happened in the primary behind them and support the party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.

“Our mission is to assure you that the party is solidly behind you and all stakeholders at the national level are being coordinated so that we have a successful election in Ondo State.

“We are here to motivate, energise and support you that this election and the success in this election is a task that must be done.

“We are expecting 90 per cent in the coming election. Make sure you know those that are supposed to vote in the polling units. We assure you Tinubu is the best leader that we have,” he said.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who doubles as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum appealed to all aggressive members of the party in the state to forget the past and focus on the future and progress of the state.

Sanwo-Olu commended all the aspirants in the April 20 APC party primary in the state for their coming along, appealing to them to “unite for the victory of APC in the guber polls

The Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, urged the stakeholders to work for the success of the party’s candidate as it was the first election that would be held in the South West, which is the region of President BolaTinubu.

Aiyedatiwa in his remarks, appreciated the leaders, assuring them that all the suggestions at the meeting would be addressed.

He equally thanked the APC leaders in the state, especially the aspirants in the April 20 primary election, the cabinet members.

Some other leaders who spoke at the meeting include the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele; APC elder stateman and octogenarian, Tajudeen Olusi.

Some of the co-contestants in the APC primary election in the state including, Olusola Oke, Isaacs Kekemeke, and Wale Akinterinwa also promised to support APC to victory in the guber polls.

Also, the political associates of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko who recently joined the APC from the PDP were present at the meeting, a former member of the House e of Representatives, Joseph Akinlaja led the group.
