Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, is gradually making a great impact with his career in Turkey.
The Nigerian has been regarded as one of the best centre backs in the Turkish league, with his club, Alanyaspor FC.
According to the present rating in the Turkish league, Omeruo is a real dependable centre back. He has potential far beyond his 81 potential overall rating.
His defensive stats – 70 sliding tackle, 72 standing tackle, 71 marking and 71 interceptions – are pretty lacklustre compared to most centre backs in their early 20s. But, what Omeruo lacks in those skills, he makes up for with sheer athleticism.
With 72 acceleration and 79 sprint speed, he’s remarkably quick for a centre-half, and his 84 jumping and 82 strength makes him a dominant force in the air.
Fortunately, he can improve his defensive stats in training, and once they’re up to par, Omeruo will be a top quality centre half.
Omeruo was solid at the back for Alanyaspor in their 3-1 away win at Bursaspor. The former Middlesborough FC defense trojan was on from start to finish.
Omeruo signed for Chelsea from Standard Liege in January 2012, and upon signing, went on loan to Dutch top-flight side ADO Den Haag.
Then only 19, he impressed enough in the Eredivisie to earn a call up to the Nigerian national team.
Now a regular international, Omeruo has represented Nigeria at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Omeruo cemented a place in the starting line-up at the Africa Cup of Nations as it turned into a wonderful tournament for the Super Eagles and they emerged from the tournament victorious.
