Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh may be in for a tough debut as Nigeria battle Tanzania’s Tafia Stars in a 2017 Cup of Nations qualifying match on September 5 at Dar es Salaam’s National Stadium.
This is so even as Oliseh is locked in a war of words with the Tanzanian Chief Coach, Charles Mkwasa, ahead of the all-important match. Interest- ingly, the last time East Africans featured at the AFCON showpiece event was 35 years ago in 1980 when Nigeria hosted and won the championship.
In the same vein, Oliseh and his team will be fighting hard to return to the continent’s greatest football fiesta after missing out of the last edition in Equatorial Guinea.
Reacting on the readiness of Tanzania ahead of the showdown, interim coach of the side, Charles Boniface Mkwasa, warned Oliseh and his team that the East Africans are battle-ready to take the three-time African champions to the cleaners.
“We face a must-win situation against Nigeria. Everyone knows that they are African heavyweights, but we have to beat them,” he said.
However, Oliseh has insisted that the Eagles will be going all out for victory in Dar es Salaam to ensure the maximum points are in the bag.
“Nigeria will be travelling to Dar es Salaam on September 5 to consolidate her winning start,” the former Eagles captain assured.
