Forty years after their graduation, the 1984 set of St. Clare Nursery and Primary School, Isale-Aro, Osogbo, capital of Osun State have returned to their alma mater in appreciation of the invaluable education and experiences they gained while in the school.
The set donated five units of new computer set to the school, being the first instalment of the equipment and urged fellow citizens to give back to the schools that nurtured them.
Addressing teachers and pupils at the school’s assembly ground on Tuesday, the old students said the Catholic school laid solid foundation for their growth in life.
Delivering a speech on behalf of the set, John Adewuyi, said the computer sets are more than just machines, adding that they represent opportunities for the next generation of students to explore, learn, and innovate.
“We are honoured to present these computer sets to our alma mater, St. Clare Nursery and Primary School, in Isale-Aro Osogbo. This gesture is a small token of appreciation for the invaluable education and experiences we gained within these walls.
“As we reflected on our time here, we realised that St. Clare Nursery and Primary School, was able to lay the foundation for our growth and success. The dedication of the teachers, the camaraderie among students, and the supportive environment instilled in us the confidence to pursue our dreams.
“These computer sets are more than just machines; they represent opportunities for the next generation of students to explore, learn, and innovate. We hope they will facilitate access to knowledge, enhance learning experiences, and bridge the digital divide.
“We would like to express gratitude to St. Clare Nursery and Primary School, for shaping us into the persons that we are today. We are proud to give back to this institution that has given us so much,” he said amid applause from teachers and pupils.
Also speaking, one of the old students, Tunde Taiwo, also expressed gratitude for the school’s standard and charged the pupils to always make the school proud wherever they find themselves.
The Headmistress, Rev. Sr. Esther Adeyemi, Parents and Teachers Association Chairman of the school, Olaore Olusegun, teachers and pupils commended the set for deeming it fit to visit their alma mater and donating the computer equipment.
