*Accomplice beaten to a pulp

A two-man robbery syndicate was smashed at the weekend after it attacked a woman who had just made some withdrawal from a Lagos bank.
One of the robbers was killed while the other was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob.
The woman had just withdrawn the money at a Zenith Bank branch located at Faith Bus-Stop along Egbeda-Ikotun road when the robbers attacked her.

Eyewitnesses recounted that, the robbers, who  specialised in motorbike robbery,  snatched her handbag containing the money she withdrew, but met a stiff resistance  from the nearby armed  mobile policeman attached to another bank around the area who shot one of the robbers dead, while the other tried to escape by trying to blend in with innocent passersby.

He was, however, exposed by the angry mob that witnessed the incident and beaten to a pulp before he was handed over to a team of policemen who took away both the dead and his accomplice.
Police sources said the matter had since been referred to the Lagos State Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigations.
