The senator representing Abia North senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has said that he has concluded plans to sponsor an economic summit for his senatorial district in the first quarter of this year.
Ohuabunwa disclosed this in a chat with The Point after a thanksgiving service organised in his honour and an empowerment programme held at Agrrey Memorial Primary School, Arochukwu.
The lawmaker said that the summit would be conducted with the training and empowerment of select beneficiaries from the district, which would include petty traders, skilled persons and artisans.
“At the end of the exercise, the beneficiaries will be given seed money to establish their own business through either an agricultural or a commercial bank,” he said.
The Peoples Democratic Party member, representing the district at the National Assembly, noted that the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promises.
