The Ogun State Government, on Friday, said that plans were underway to revive the ‘Green House’ project abandoned at Kotopo Extension Work Station in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture in the state, Dr Adeola Odedina, made the disclosure while leading a delegation of agric team and other stakeholders on an inspection tour to the abandoned ‘Green House’ project.
According to Odedina, the land is a state government’s property being cleared to engage young farmers.
The project, he said, would help the farmers to cultivate various crops to ensure job opportunities, food security and industrial raw materials.
Odedina urged the youths in the state to take advantage of the Kotopo Extension Station, assuring them that the government was ready to give adequate training and support to youth in agriculture.
Alaba Lawson, former president, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, said the body would continue to show interest and partner government on agriculture.
Emphasizing that a state that provided food for its people was assured of wealth and good health, Lawson said that the project would be a thing of pride once it took off fully.
