The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the Ogun West Senatorial District, Alhaji Bashiru Fadairo, has declared the suspension of Idowu Adetunji as the party’s chairman in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state as legal.
Adetunji was suspended over an alleged mismanagement of party affairs and misappropriation of funds by nine out of the 13 APC executive members in the council area .
Fadairo, who spoke with our correspondent in an exclusive interview in Abeokuta, noted that Adetunji’s suspension remained legal because he was suspended for alleged anti-party activities in the local government.
According to the APC senatorial district chairman, the party’s council boss’ suspension was legal because he was not removed, noting that the party members followed due process before suspending him from office.
He said, “There is nothing you do in the party that if it is illegal, they will not tell you it is illegal; and his (Adetunji’s) exco members were there. So, when you do something that is illegal, they will tell you that it is illegal.”
The APC chieftain maintained that the members must have followed due process of the party’s constitution before they called for Adetunji’s suspension, stressing that his suspension was legal because his executive members were involved.
He, therefore, enjoined the council party chairman to endeavour to do the right things whenever he’s recalled to his office.
While reacting to the development, the party’s spokesperson in the state, Sola Lawal, noted that the state chapter of the party had yet to be informed about the development.
