Governor-elect of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the weekend, said that he would not repay the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, in his own coin for standing against his governorship ambition in the state.
Abiodun stated this at his Iperu-Remo residence in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state after being declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission .
The oil magnate, who was the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, said the last minute support from former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, was as a result of the support he (Abiodun) gave Daniel during his campaign for governor in 2003.
Abiodun, while thanking the electorate for voting him as the governor of the state, said he would concentrate on the development of the state rather than venting his anger on Amosun.
According to him, since he began his governorship campaign from the beginning to the end, he had never abused or say any bad thing against Amosun despite the fact that the governor did not support him ambition.
Abiodun, however attributed his victory to his humility, resilience and his ability to keep hope alive even in the face of challenges, saying his victory showed that God is greater than man.
” I don’t think that anyone would have observed when we started this campaign and ended this campaign that I have exhibited any form of anger against Governor Ibikunle Amosun neither did I at any point say anything bad against him during the campaign.
“It is important to know that this is not a personal thing … I believe the electorate have spoken and they have spoken well; so anger does not have a place in what we are talking her today.
“The alignment or the collaboration with Otunba Gbenga Daniel was not a PDP or APC thing . Our people in Ogun East felt that they had to produce the next governor, “ he said.
The governor-elect also appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former Governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba as well as the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, for supporting him to be the next governor of the state.
