The ancient town of Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State erupted into celebration recently following the state government’s approval of Prince Lukman Olalekan Kuoye’s selection as the Olu-Imasai of Imasayi.
Kuoye, who is from Oyesokun Ruling House, emerged victorious in the selection that was conducted by the Imsayi chiefs under the supervision of council officials in Ayetoro in March, this year.
As the news of the Oba-designate’s approval filtered into the town, the people of Imasayi trooped to the streets in wild jubilation.
Kuoye, while reacting to the news, lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, the State Executive Council, the kingmakers, and the people of the town for deeming him fit. He promised to work with relevant stakeholders in moving the town forward.
Kuoye called for the support of other contenders to the stool noting that there was no vanquished in the contest.
“I want my dear brothers that vied with me to know that we are all winners as my reign will be inclusive. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I want to thank my fellow contestants who have gracefully accepted the decision of the people,” he said.
The Oba-elect, who worked with the National Identity Management Commission, promised to use his experience in public service to improve the condition of the kingdom.
Kuoye, a former Secretary and Vice-Chairman, Transition Committee of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, had served as Special Assistant to former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State.
A Masters Degree holder in Social Works from the Lagos State University, Kuoye was President of Rotary Club of Atan-Ota and Chapter President, Rotary Club of Ado-Odo.
