Some High Chiefs in Ijesaland have confirmed the reported death of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.

Oba Aromolaran was said to have battled with an undisclosed ailment before he joined his ancestors on Wednesday night.

Though the palace is yet to issue an official statement, some High Chiefs in the ancient town told The Point that the traditional ruler “departed to great beyond” on Wednesday after a brief ailment.

“Yes, our Baba joined his ancestors yesterday but the announcement is yet to be officially made,” one of the High Chiefs in the ancient town who craved anonymity told The Point on telephone.

Another traditional chief confirmed that the about 87 year old monarch died.

The monarch had recently been waging war against traders who exploit their customers through fraudulent measurements and those who inflate the prices of their goods outrageously.

The monarch also banned market union associations from fixing and forcing prices of goods on market women and other traders in Ijesaland.
