NSCDC operatives engage robbers in gun duel after operation, recover stolen vehicle

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command have engaged a gang of armed robbers in gun duel, overpowered it and dispossessed them of a vehicle which they had stolen from the owner.

The suspected robbers had fled Onibu-Eja community, along Iwo-Ibadan road of the state after attacking a family and snatching their vehicle from them.

Confirming the incident, the NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, said the four-man gang, last Saturday, at about 15:25 am, invaded a house at Onibu-eja community, Osun State, where a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint from a family.

He said immediately the gang left, members of the community put a distress call to NSCDC, Osun State Command for assistance.

A statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, Kehinde Adeleke, on Sunday, disclosed that the officers of the command on patrol swung into action and engaged the suspects in a gun duel.

“Faced with superior firepower, the suspects fled leaving the stolen vehicle behind,” she said.

According to Adeleke, the stolen Toyota Corolla recovered has the chasis number; 1NXBU40E49Z005008 with registration number; KWL911TC, Abuja is at the state NSCDC office, adding that discreet investigation has commenced to arrest the suspects and make them face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, Adaralewa has commended the swift response of the officers and their bravery in foiling the armed robbery attack.

He also lauded members of the public for giving timely information to the command, assuring that NSCDC would continue to justify the trust reposed in it by members of the public.

The NSCDC boss in the state also used the opportunity to send warnings to criminally minded people in the state to have a change of mind or ready to face the full wrath of the law.
