The Leaders of Igbo community in the 19 Northern states and Abuja have distanced themselves from the agitation by the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, for the break up of the country.
Addressing journalists in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, on Thursday, the President-General of the Igbo Delegate Assembly in 19 Northern states and Abuja, Chief Chikizie Nwogu, said that the Igbo communities in the northern Nigeria were not in support of such agitation by the IPOB.
“As we all know, the South-East Governors Forum and our apex body, that is the Ohanieze Ndigbo, have condemned the activities of IPOB; we are solely behind them”, he added.
According him, Igbo leaders were  in Zamfara to resolve the prolonged leadership tussle in the Igbo Community in the state.
“We have succeeded as the two factions have agreed to work together under one umbrella. We are calling on the entire Igbo Community in Zamfara to embrace peace among them. We, Igbo, as peace-loving people, therefore, should ignore any political agitation and threat peace in the country,” he said.
Nwogu explained that Igbo residing in the Northern part had confidence in the oneness of Nigeria and were ready to cooperate with government and all stakeholders to move the country forward.
He stated that even last week, Igbo leaders met with the coalition of Arewa Youths Association in Kano to ensure peace and stability of the country.
