Benue State Governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has said that his administration had not ceded any parcel of land in the Agatu Local Government Area of the state to Fulani herdsmen.
Gov. Ortom said that his administration was seriously concerned about the security of the people in the area and would therefore, not take such an unpopular decision.
The governor stated this while speaking on a radio programme monitored by our correspondent in Makurdi, the state capital.
He described the rumour about the ceding of land in Agatu LGA to the Fulani herdsmen as falsehood being spread by the detractors of his administration.
The governor explained that the resolutions of the recent Agatu peace accord convened by Benue and Nasarawa state governments did not ceded any land to the Fulani herdsmen, but only allowed for a route via the river to Gbagana in Kogi State without any infiltration of Agatu land.
