The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has begun the rollout of five new Compressed Natural Gas cascades at selected stations in Abuja, effective today.

This effort is a component of NNPC’s dedication to increasing CNG accessibility, facilitating simpler access, and improving the overall refueling experience for customers.

“NNPC announced today that it is implementing five (5) new cascades in Abuja as part of our dedication to improving gas availability.

“This will enhance the availability of CNG at selected stations, bettering access for users. We’re diligently tracking feedback to provide a better refueling experience, and we’re hopeful this will decrease wait times for riders,” the company said.

The rollout aims to enhance the convenience and accessibility of CNG refueling, especially with the increasing demand for this alternative fuel.

Compressed Natural Gas serves as an affordable and eco-friendly substitute for gasoline and diesel. Its cost-effectiveness positions it as a desirable choice for public transport and industrial applications, providing considerable fuel savings and enhancing economic efficiency.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has recently observed a 2,500% increase in CNG conversions in 2024, fueled by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative.

This expansion has resulted in an estimated 50,000 CNG-fueled vehicles and trucks across Nigeria.

The introduction of these new tiers supports the government’s initiative to increase the use of CNG as a cleaner and more economical fuel.

NNPC seeks to improve access to fuel stations to increase transport efficiency and support a more sustainable energy future for Nigeria.
