Nigeria’s Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, has expressed optimism that the country’s vision is not yet defeated in spite of the economic, security, religious and ethnic challenges bedeviling her.
Osinbajo stated this on Sunday at the National Ecumenical Center, Abuja, during the 61st Independence Anniversary Interdenominational Church service and 45th anniversary service of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, indicated in a statement on Sunday that it was during a special service in commemoration of Nigeria’s independence on October 1, 2021.
The vice-president at the event, tagged ‘Together, Come Let Us build’, said that from independence, “we have since become the most educated and most entrepreneurial nation in Africa. Ten of our 36 states have larger economies than at least 15 African countries.
” From our ranks, we have the most accomplished men and women in the arts, the sciences, in sports, in technology and commerce.”
In the remarks titled, ‘The Vision Undefeated’, he stated further that “our current trials cannot draw the curtains on our story because the vision is for an appointed time and because this country is greater than the sum of its parts and the sum of it’s mistakes; and because the God that we serve is greater than the sum of our collective hopes and imagination, our nation will surmount our current travails and emerge in victor.”
Present at the event were eminent religious leaders such as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A Adeboye and CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, amongst others.
